You’ll Love Who We Are.
Navigating life’s intricate fabric, choices unfold paths to the extraordinary, demanding creativity, curiosity, and courage for a truly fulfilling journey.
Hi! I’m Ladessa Valley, your resident crazy chicken lady! Feather Valley Farm was established in 2018 when we finally fulfilled our lifelong dream of moving to the mountains. Rory is an avid and passionate houndsman. And our young children have lots of freedom on our forested 20 acres here in North Idaho. We obtained our breeding flocks in 2020. It all started with a flock of sweet mille fleur bantam cochins and it’s been a love affair with feathered friends ever since. (Previously I had hatchery birds). I was going through a very emotionally trying time and these sweet birds really helped me through those dark days. I found myself focusing on them rather than my problems. Visiting with them provided me moments of much needed solace. This is when I discovered how truly personable, friendly, and entertaining roosters could be, and how therapeutic chickens are. The roosters quickly became my favorites amongst the group. This inspired me to breed for good temperament as a rule, so I could share the joy of sweet birds with others. Breeding for health, vigor, and vitality are my next top priorities right along with temperament. I breed toward standard of perfection with my approved birds. But, anyone who knows me, knows that I am a project girl at heart. My passion is sparked within my projects. And this is where my colors AND their colors truly shine. Everything we do around here is done with integrity. I value honesty, good business, humility, the golden rule, and friendship. My mission is to share my birds, my knowledge, and my support. No gatekeeping around here. Investing in our flocks is investing in the future of these birds I work with and this small family of four (with fuzzy and furry and feathered friends galore). It’s Investing in healthy, hardy, docile, friendly, beautiful and unique birds. Investing in passion and what we believe in. And having a piece of that to make your own passions and dreams come alive. Allowing us to continue doing what we love and sharing that love with you and others. Thank you for your support and encouragement. I hope you are as happy with our birds as we are.

Our Flocks
Salmon Faverolles.

Large Fowl Salmon Faverolles. Focusing on Hen Line, Health/Vigor, Temperament, Dual Purpose/Industrious Birds. Considered a meat delicacy in France, where they originated. My Salmon Faverolles are among my favorite because the boys are absolutely docile, and the girls are so quirky. I lovingly call them my salmon fatties/ fat-rolls. There’s just something about those big fluffy cheeks and fluffy booties. Great for young families. My daughter can easily pick up our main rooster with his 3 inch spurs without hesitation or fear. I have spent years selecting only the nicest boys to breed, and only the healthiest birds moving forward.
Satins & Silkies.

Mille Fleur, Lavender Cuckoo. Pictures reflect past colors I’ve had and still adore. These birds are considered the Labrador retrievers of the chicken world. Friendly and docile. Good brooders. They are not for the faint of heart. But they are for all your fancy and fluffy yard candy heart’s desires. They are hard to resist. They are all that and a bag of chips, Lay’s potato chips specifically, because you can’t have just one. 😅🤣 They should come with a warning label, caution, may cause addiction and hoarding. But, trust me, they are worth all the hype and worth a chance to join your flock!
Cochins.

Mille Fleur Bantan Cochins in Smooth and Frizzle. My absolute top favorite breed. These are the birds that convert non bird people into bird people. These are the birds that even the anti-crazy chicken person will like. Voted most likely to perch on your shoulder, sit on your shoe, eat out of your hand, and dance for you. They are excellent brooders and mothers. I put specific focus on color and pattern and through years of selective breeding, I have achieved what I desire to see in my lines. I highly recommend these birds.
Colored Eggers.

Various Colored Eggers continued.

Inspired by the beautiful nature surrounding us our eggs reflect the diverse and abundant colors of the mountains, forest and lakes nearby. These treasures we hold near and dear. Ermine, Chocolate/Mauve, Frizzle, and Naked Neck Genetics go into the Unique Look of Feather Valley Farm Colored Eggers. I wanted a fun pen. And this is it! What’s more fun than the daily rainbow treasure hunt? Maybe the fact that these colored eggers aren’t your typical boring looking flock members. They are bred to be cheeky, frizzled, naked neck, calico, ermine, chocolate, mauve and more! I will always focus on hatching the most unique and beautiful birds and eggs!
